FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What You Need to Know
WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?
Artists rates are based on experience, skill, awards, and overall demand. Our artists are all very good at what they do, so you won't find cheap art within our facility, but you will find artists priced appropriately for their capabilities.
Short answer, $160-250/hr.
DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?
Our artists operate primarily by appointment only. However, cancellations and short appointments may allow time for walk-in tattoos. We advise calling ahead for availability. 315.447.6754.
DO YOU SELL ALL THE AFTERCARE PRODUCTS I’LL NEED?
Yes we do! We offer Redemption brand ointment for purchase, an all-natural product made with USDA-certified organic ingredients. This ointment was made specifically for the tattoo industry by industry professionals, as opposed to other products found at the grocery store which are not tattoo-specific and typically contain petroleum and lanolin.
We also offer Saniderm for purchase, a hypoallergenic protective film barrier also created specifically for healing tattoos. Your artist will be able to suggest the best product for your healing process.
IS YOUR INK VEGAN FRIENDLY?
Yes! But you should be asking, "is your entire set-up vegan friendly?" Latex gloves may not be vegan friendly. Many tattoo artists don't realize that Green Soap, the industry's most common cleanser, may not be vegan friendly, depending on the brand. The same goes for certain ointments used during the tattooing process and the aftercare products provided to clients for use during the healing process. Don't worry though, we go out of our way to make sure everyone is taken care of, and we sell the organic, vegan friendly aftercare you want.
I'M NOT A TATTOO ARTIST, CAN I MAKE A PURCHASE FROM ULTRA TATTOO SUPPLY?
You may not purchase tattoo supplies. Gloves and aftercare products are the only exceptions.
WHY DO I NEED TO LEAVE A DEPOSIT?
Your artist will require a non-refundable deposit to book an appointment, $100-250 depending on the artist. This deposit serves as your promise to the artist that you will show up for your appointments as scheduled. The deposit "floats" until your final tattoo session if your tattoo requires multiple appointments. As long as you arrive to each of your appointments, the deposit will be applied towards the final cost of your tattoo. Getting your tattoo done in one session? You deposit will be applied that day.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DEPOSIT IF I DON'T SHOW UP FOR MY APPOINTMENT OR NEED TO RESCHEDULE?
Non-refundable means non-refundable. The artist keeps your deposit. You just wasted their time, time they could have spent working on someone else. Artists in this studio are self-employed. If appointments don't show, artists don't get paid. A deposit helps alleviate this problem.
As far as canceling or rescheduling goes, please call or stop in at least one week (2 weeks notice during winter) prior to your appointment. A lost appointment can be difficult to recover, especially when there isn't enough time to reach out to the community to try to find a replacement. This is especially true during the winter and our slow season, between November and March. Don't make an appointment if there's a chance you won't be able to keep it. Our artists are understanding, but cancellations come in waves, and that can kill an artist's income. For this reason, we are very strict on cancellations and rescheduling.
IT'S A MONTH FROM MY APPOINTMENT AND I HAVE TO RESCHEDULE, WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT?
Call or stop by the shop to reschedule in person. Do not email. Do not send an instagram message or a facebook message. Do not leave a message on the phone's answering machine. You MUST speak with your artist DIRECTLY, it makes life much easier for all parties involved.
I'M PREGNANT, AND CAN'T GET TATTOOED. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DEPOSIT?
You can do 1 of 3 things. You can wait, we promise your deposit is safe. You can transfer it to a friend or relative. Or, you can have it turned into a gift certificate. Anyway you choose, it just needs to remain with the same artist.
MY FRIEND SAID I SHOULD USE SOMETHING ELSE TO HEAL MY TATTOO WITH. SHOULD I LISTEN?
No, absolutely not. Your friend is not a tattoo artist that works within this facility. The information they give you may be very wrong. "But their artist had them buy something at the dollar store." Wonderful, the stuff they bought is meant for asses, not tattoos. Listen to your artist, not your friend.
I'M 17, WILL YOU TATTOO ME WITH PARENTAL CONSENT?
Absolutely not. It is violation of Section 260.21 of New York State Penal Law to tattoo anyone under the age of 18, regardless of parental consent. There are people out there that will tattoo minors, and to that we say, come see us for a cover-up when you turn 18.
If you'd like to do some reading for yourself, here's the law.
I SAW A TATTOO I REALLY LIKE, CAN I GET IT EXACTLY LIKE IT IS ONLINE?
No. We will make something similar for you, but stealing someone else's artwork is a big no-no. How would you feel if someone spent many hours designing something specifically for you, you pay hundreds of dollars for this one-of-a-kind masterpiece, then later discover it's been ripped off by some asshole named Scotty? It happens all the time, and it's heartbreaking. Be original, get something for you. We like to consider ourselves creative experts, challenge us a little bit.
DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?
Not every artist accepts credit. As independent contractors, our artists are free to choose their accepted methods of payment. There is an ATM our lobby, it has a $300 limit, and a $3.25 transaction fee.
I'M A SOLDIER, AND WANT TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR WHEN I GET BACK FROM OVERSEAS. HOW CAN I SET THAT UP?
First off, thank you for your service, as a veteran run establishment, we appreciate and understand what it is you do. We can set something up online, but if it's larger than a single session/quarter sleeve, you'll still need to do a consultation. We can set up the appointment, but need that consultation to make sure artist and client are both on the same page. There are options for speaking with your artist before returning home, please email us for more information.
